The image shows an installation view and one painting. First inspired by Richard Longs’ seminal piece, A Line Made by Walking, the piece has grown virally from its original realization and at this point is comprised of more than 100 hundred paintings.
When exhibited, the paintings cover all walls and a considerable extension of the floor leaving small paths for the visitors to navigate the piece and the space.
As in much of my work, Growth bridges a multitude of disparate references: Mural paintings, the immersive quality of the panoramic paintings of the 19th century, landscape painting, the modernist grid, and the anti-industrial mode of production of Arte Povera.
